About me
Marco Pizzolato
GIS & remote sensing · Machine learning · Mountains & maps
Short version
Some people say the world is mapped. I say it’s waiting to be explored. Whether it’s trekking across the highlands, analysing satellite images, or training machine learning models, I enjoy living at the intersection of technology, nature, and adventure.
What I work on
By day, I work as a GIS and remote sensing specialist, crafting maps, analysing data, and making sense of the world through satellites. By night (or whenever adventure calls), I’m an aspirant alpine trekking guide, chasing the next challenge — whether it’s a mountain peak or a complex dataset.
“There’s plenty of low-hanging fruit — but I’d rather climb higher for the best view.”
Background
I studied mechanical engineering and completed a master’s in materials & process engineering. Over time, my work drifted north — towards geospatial analysis, environmental monitoring, and Earth observation.
Today, I like to connect:
- science and technology
- remote sensing and machine learning
- environmental protection and real-world decision making
What I care about
I’m passionate about environmental protection, sustainability, and using data-driven tools to tackle real-world challenges. My mission is to explore, learn, and share knowledge — whether that means:
- trekking in remote landscapes
- developing new data-driven insights
- helping others navigate their own paths
If you’re into maps, AI, glaciers, or the best trekking routes in Iceland, you’re in the right place.
